Re: what $10M of Meta spend is worth to you on a platform that is three months old
If you buy clicks on Meta today, you pay somewhere between a dollar and five for what a friend of Max's bought for eleven cents in 2012.3 You did not get in late because you were slow. You got in when you heard about it. So did I.
By the time I started buying, the cheap years were gone. I still put more than $10M of my own money through Meta and built brands past $35M on it,2 but every lesson cost real money. Which events to fire. How to structure a campaign so you can read it. When to kill an ad and when to leave it alone.
ChatGPT Ads is built the same way. Campaign, ad group, ad. Context hints instead of interests. A chat card instead of a video.1 Different skin, same bones. The bones are what those lessons paid for, and you get them without paying for them twice.
So we ported the structure, the tracking and the testing discipline onto the new platform, and put an agent on the setup so you never learn it by hand. Then we priced it at $27, because the point is to get you in while the auction is empty.
This time the platform is three months old, and you are reading about it while a click is still cheap. That is the whole difference.
